Tickets go on sale today (Friday 13 July) for Kate Fox's new family show, The Starting Line.
"When
I was Poet in Residence for the Bupa Great North Run I discovered there
were more benefits to not being a couch potato than I'd realised. If
someone had said that running would make me happier and make my writing
better then I'd have done more of it earlier. I just needed to hear
reasons that weren't to do with looking like a Hollywood star or
Olympics athlete. I hope my show will demonstrate some." Kate Fox
The Starting Line will be on at Live Theatre, Newcastle on Friday 14 and Saturday 15 September. Tickets are £8 or £6 concsessions. Family tickets (2 adults and 2 children) are £20. Book online or call 0191 232 1232.
Kate will also be running free family workshops on Saturday 4
and 11 August, 10-11am at Willi’s Coffee House, 23 Clayton Road,
Jesmond.
Fartlek Your Mind! creative writing workshops are for
families, parents and carers with children 8+, or adults interested in
ways to write with their children. Using the Park Run as
stimulus, there will be fast and slow writing exercises, like the ‘Speed
Play’ of Fartlek running training. Participants will produce a new poem
and find new ways to look at the world when they’re out running.
Both sessions are free and there's no need to book, but you can email katefoxwriter@me.com in advance for a copy of the Fartlek Your Mind! information sheet.
