News Our 2013 programme is here!
We like to think there’s never a dull moment here at Great North Run Culture and we’re very pleased to say 2013 is no exception. Every year we work with talented artists who come up with creative new ways to explore the Great North Run through art. Then we work with partners to programme special events, workshops and exhibitions at venues and in public spaces across the region. How lucky are we?

We’ve commissioned four artists to make new work inspired by the Great North Run for our 2013 programme – Melanie Manchot’s film Tracer, Paul Smith’s choral piece A mind full of nothing but continue, Daisy de Villeneuve’s Run Colour Run portraits and Adam Chodzko’s audio work Rising, co-commissioned with Invisible Dust.

"We're really excited to be working with four brilliant artists this year on four very different projects. Our launch event at Sport Central on 6 September will give a flavour of what's to come throughout September and October, including a sneak preview of Paul Smith's new choral piece, the premiere of Melanie Manchot's film Tracer, a live parkour demo and special artist Q&A with journalist and broadcaster Miranda Sawyer. Daisy de Villeneuve has captured some of the people behind the scenes at the Great North Run in a series of fabulous felt tip portraits, Run Colour Run. And for the first time, we've co-commissioned an audio work - Rising by Adam Chodzko will be broadcast on basic.fm on the day of the Run, as well as being available as a podcast.

As ever, we couldn't do it without our fantastic project partners and funders and we can't wait to welcome audiences to our 2013 programme." Beth Bate, Director Great North Run Culture

All events are free, though some are ticketed because space is limited, so you’ll need to book online in advance. To see full programme listings, book tickets, invite friends or plan your #GNRC13 using our new online scheduler* go to www.greatnorthrunculture.org

We hope you like what you see and we look forward to seeing you soon.
