The Bupa Great North Run Cultural Programme: celebrating sport and art.
The 2009 Cultural Programme will launch this September with a exhibition at Newcastle's Hatton Gallery, a new play for families at Live Theatre and a series large-scale interactive running games across the North East. Our very first web project Dry Run will be open to online visitors from the end of July. Watch this space for more information...
The Bupa Great NorthRun Cultural Programme is an annual series of artistic commissions which celebrate and respond to the world's largest half-marathon - its history and route, its spirit and recollection, the thousands of journeys and stories of those who take part.
2008 saw the Great North Run's most ambitious cultural programme to date, running from 10 September - 23 November and featuring new writing, photography, film, dance and sculpture, as well as schools workshops and our first family event. We worked with some of the leading arts organisations in the North East, all testament to the fantastic cultural life of our region.
