Daisy de
Villeneuve has made a name for herself through her distinctive, colourful felt
tip drawings. She has produced solo exhibitions (her work was recently acquired
by Soho House and The Groucho Club in London), as well as commissions for
household name brands such as Topshop and Nike. Her work has been featured in
Vogue, Wallpaper*, the Guardian and the Sunday Times Style magazine.
Published
books include I Told You So and He Said She Said - Daisy’s quirky drawings are teamed up with snippets of remembered
conversations, all typed by hand on her trusty Olympia typewriter. Now based in Paris, Daisy is currently working
on a new book I Should Have Said.
Talking
about her Great North Run Culture commission Daisy says, "The thing that interested me about making work about the Great North
Run was that it’s a challenge, something new – I’ve never done a project like
this before. I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I went to the Run – I
didn’t realise what a big event it was, and that there were so many people
involved. Great North Run Culture has
commissioned some really big artists like Douglas Gordon and Mark Wallinger, so
it was a real privilege to be asked to work on the project, it meant a lot.”
