A funny, thoughtful spoken word show for a family audience from poet and broadcaster Kate Fox. Warning: may include rhymes.
Stand up poet Kate Fox is actually much better at sitting down. However, when she became Poet in Residence for the Bupa Great North Run in 2011 she discovered that running and writing had more in common than she had ever imagined. She also discovered that it's not what your body looks like that matters - it's what your body can do. The Starting Line involves optional interaction with brains, bodies and phones.
Tickets: £8 / £6 concs. Family ticket (2 adults and 2 children): £20. Book online or call 0191 232 1232.
The Starting Line was developed in association with the Manchester Children’s Book Festival and is produced by ARC, Stockton Arts Centre. Confirmed tour dates so far include 3rd July at the Manchester Children’s Book Festival and 3rd November at ARC Stockton on Tees.
Kate is also running (pun intended!) free family writing sessions around the Newcastle Park Run on 4 and 11 August. Come along to contribute to a poem & get some tips on how get creative while you're out running.
Kate explains how The Starting Line came about in this short video:
