Internationally acclaimed artist Beat Streuli showed his work for the first time in the North East as part of the Bupa Great North Run Cultural Programme.
His work captures the transient and pedestrian activity of urban life to create portraits of runners and spectators at the event. Capturing people in he natural state, often unawares, he creates uncontrived images showing expressions and emotions of joy, tension and relief.
Runners, Newcastle/South Shields 07 featured large scale iamges of runners and spectators displayed in the front windows of The Sage Gateshead. Visible from the Quayside and best viewed from inside The Sage Gateshead, these photos overlooked the route of the Bupa Great North Run itself.
