Beat visited the 2007 Bupa Great North Run to create portraits of runners and spectators at the event. Capturing people in their natural state, often unawares, he creates uncontrived images showing expressions and emotions of joy, tension and relief.

Elite Runners, South Shields 07 featured large-scale images of elite athletes exhibited at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art.
