Artists Amy Feneck and Laura Mansfield worked with a group of runners from Wallsend Harriers to make this new work.
The personal recollections of individual runners formed the basis of The Streets Do Flow and recreated the simple narrative of a journey through the city from a runner’s perspective.
The artists collated interviews and anecdotes from the runners, using
this material to create a series of unique text and image based designs
that appeared as unexpected interventions in The Journal and on a
billboard above St James Metro station. The work was also featured in
the Hit The Ground exhibition at the Hatton Gallery, offering a personal yet abstracted perspective on the shared experience of running.
Produced in collaboration with The Journal.
With thanks to the Wallsend Harriers.
