We’re delighted to announce four artists have been shortlisted for our annual Moving Image Commission.

Every year we award an artist or film-maker £30,000 to create a new moving image work in response to the world's largest half-marathon. The work is then presented as part of the following year's programme with an extract screened on the BBC as part of their live coverage of the Bupa Great North Run.

The winners of our 2012 Moving Image Commission were Karin Kihlberg and Reuben Henry who are currently making The Order of Things, to be shown at NewBridge Space in Newcastle in September.

This year's selection panel are Beth Bate, Judith King, Alice Sharp and Matt Stokes. The four shortlisted artists will present their work to the panel in July and one artist will be selected to make their film.

It was a very strong field, and we’d like to thank everyone who submitted an application this year and wish them the best of luck.
