AUTHOR DAVID ALMOND VISITS SOUTH SHIELDS

Award-winning author David Almond will make public appearance at South Shields Museum

The history and heritage of the North East region was recounted and celebrated in David Almond’s story, And Let Us Run, which formed the basis of the Great North Run Million spectacular live event on the Newcastle Gateshead quayside last year, relive it by clicking here.

Some 16,000 people attended the event, hosted by Great North Run Culture, on the banks of the River Tyne and this May, as part of a year-long programme celebrating the millionth finish of the Great North Run, David will tell the story of how And Let Us Run came to be and his special connection to the North East.

On Tuesday, 12 May 2015 members of the public are invited to attend South Shields Museum, on Ocean Road, to meet David as he talks about how the region continues to inspire him as a writer and how in crafting the story of the North East he has come to know some of the Great North Greats that are integral to its past and its future.

Attendees will have the opportunity to talk with David and ask questions of the acclaimed local author.

Tuesday, 12 May 2015, 3pm - 4.15pm, South Shields Museum, Ocean Road, South Shields, Tyne and Wear NE33 2JA.
