News We reach the Millionth Finish!
History was made on Tyneside as the Bupa Great North Run reached its millionth finish.

Tracey Cramond from Darlington, who was running for The Butterwick Hospice, crossed the finish line in South Shields to be met by a media frenzy and a presentation by Brendan Foster and Lord Seb Coe. This historic moment was a world-first and the presentation took place in front of the flag that was brought together as part of the Opening Ceremony earlier in the week.

Tracey was presented with a commemorative gold medal and a print of the finish area on race day by artist Jim Edwards that was commissioned as part of our inaugural Great North Run Culture programme in 2005.

Congratulations to Tracey and all of the runners who are part of the Great North Run Million!
