News Event information guide

The North East's biggest celebration is fast approaching!

Now that you have your ticket for the Great North Run Million Opening Ceremony, plan how you will get there by downloading or viewing the Information Guide.

It is very important to study the maps and read this information before you arrive into NewcastleGateshead. Each zone has its own ticket gate so it is important that you approach using the correct route to save yourself any additional walking time. The best way is to follow the arrows that match the colour of your zone.

Ticketholders will only be allowed to access through the correct ticket gate into the arena.

Ticket gates will not open until 1930. The warm up and protocol commences at 2030 with the show starting at 2100. Please remember not to arrive late as we reserve the right to close the gates before the main show starts.

You can’t swap zones. If you have a green zone ticket, you must watch the show there and vice versa.

The green zone ticket gates are on Quayside Road at Milkmarket so should be accessed via Pilgrim Street or City Road. If you are walking from Gateshead please use the Tyne Bridge into Newcastle. The east side of the Tyne Bridge is closed for show operations and access across the bridge is west side only - follow diversions.

The blue zone ticket gates are on Sandhill so should be accessed via Dean Street or if you are walking from Gateshead, the Swing Bridge.

NB – The Gateshead Millennium Bridge is closed from 18.30 so is not available as an access route into the arena.

Your tickets are vital in order to obtain entry into the arena. Please print them (if you chose the print at home option) and keep them safe. Prior to entering the arena the barcode on your ticket will be scanned by our stewarding teams. No ticket, no entry to the zones (note: there are no tickets available on the day)

Due to the short nature of the show there will be no re-entry to the arena so please make sure you are with your whole party before entering.

If you are deaf or hard of hearing, please note that there will be a BSL interpreter and captioning at the event. Please contact info@greatnorthrunculture if you require this service.
