Be part of a brand new exhibition by sharing your Great North Run stories
If
you’ve ever participated in the Great North Run, then you could be included in
a new exhibition opening at the Discovery Museum, Newcastle.
Great
North Run Culture, part of the Great Run Company, arrange an annual series of
arts projects, events and exhibitions which celebrate and explore sport and
art, and this year is no exception.
As
part of the GNR Million celebrations, which took place on the banks of the
river Tyne last September, Great North Greats is a touring exhibition
celebrating the achievements of individuals from the region, visiting venues along
the route of the run throughout 2015.
Organisers
hope to be able to acknowledge the enormous achievement of those who take part
in the Great North Run, and are asking anyone who has ever ran the worlds
largest half-marathon to get in touch.
Programme
Manager, Sally Lockey said "We are
looking for anyone who has been involved in the Great North Run, since it was
started by Brendan Foster (pictured) in 1981, to share their own story, or that of a loved
one who may have participated. We’re hoping to be able to collate the stories
of thousands of runners which will form part of an interactive display at the
Discovery Museum this August.”
