Fancy being part of the spectacular Great North Run Million Opening Ceremony?
Join the cast of volunteer performers - no experience necessary!
This year the Bupa Great North Run will be the first event of its kind to each its millionth finish. On Thursday 4th September, the Newcastle Gateshead Quayside and the River Tyne will be transformed into a huge outdoor arena for an Opening Ceremony, marking the start of the official countdown to the millionth finish.
Featuring new writing by David Almond, narration by Jill Halfpenny, live music from Chase & Status, Mark Knopfler and The Unthanks, a giant floating sculpture, video mapping onto the sage, fireworks and pyrotechnics and much more, the Opening Ceremony is powered by the energy of a million runners!
And you can be part of it!
Grab the best seat in the house by signing up to be part of our mass cast. Forming a giant circuit around the Quayside, the mass cast will perform at key moments during the show, surrounding the audience and bringing the story to life.
This is a one in a lifetime opportunity to perform alongside hundreds in a spectacular event!
