Ever completed the Great North Run? Fancy creating a personalized 3D
printed souvenir of your Great North Run? Well now, you can! We're helping you create a 3D printed object using your run data - a bespoke memento of your achievement!
Come along to one of our 3D fabrication
sessions and make your own unique shape from time stamps. With
the running chip data being recorded and stored over the past several years,
anyone who has taken part in a Great North Run in the past or is taking part in
the run this year can sign up to one of the sessions to create their unique
souvenir.
In these half-an-hour sessions, led by product designer and Newcastle
University PhD researcher Bettina Nissen, you will be able to digitally create
and 3D print your personalized souvenir. Bettina will not only help you
generate your unique shapes, but will also take you through the whole 3D
printing process and answer any questions you may have about the making process
from your run data through to digital shape generation and fabrication
technology.
Never participated in the Great North Run? Don't worry, you can still come along and use running data from a friend or relative, or even one of the elite athletes.
Workshops begin tomorrow, Saturday 15 August at Discovery Museum, Newcastle, so book your place today!
