2012 review: how was it for you?
Photographer: Colin Davison © Great North Run Culture
2012 was a big year for us here at Great North Run Culture. We’re incredibly proud of our programme which included new commissions from Mark Wallinger, Douglas Gordon, Dan Holdsworth, Kate Fox and Reuben Henry & Karin Kihlberg.

We want to say a huge thanks to the 663,000 of you who saw our exhibitions and came to our programme of events, workshops, family activities and artist talks.

The End of Civilisation, a new film by Turner Prize winning artist Douglas Gordon, co- commissioned by Great North Run Culture and Locus+, was the starting point for an education project which culminates in the exhibition Black or white, mainly grey.

As part of our education and engagement programme, Great North Run Culture and Locus+ invited a team from Northern Stars Young Film Makers Academy to the set of Douglas Gordon’s new film, The End of Civilisation.
