Douglas Gordon

Douglas Gordon is a Scottish artist who lives and works in Berlin and Glasgow. He works across media including film, photography, installation and text and is perhaps best known for his many pieces that reflect on the nature of memory, repetition and the moving image, exploring the familiar and unfamiliar.

Douglas won the Turner Prize in 1996 and represented Britain at the Venice Biennale the following year. He was the subject of a major show at the Hayward Gallery in 2002 and at the Scottish National Galleries in 2006. His cinematic portrait of the footballer Zinedine Zidane was premiered at the Edinburgh and Cannes Film Festivals in 2006.
